If you love this area, enjoy meeting people from around the world and would like to share with visitors a "Mainer's Maine", Bangor Greeters is just the volunteer opportunity for you! Many first-time and even repeat visitors to our region are intimidated by its geography. Bangor Greeter volunteers welcome visitors to Bangor and show them that "the big city" really does have small town charm. Greeters share personal stories and favorite spots. Your knowledge of any "off the beaten track spots" is a plus.  Knowledge of foreign languages or American Sign Language is also helpful. What does a Greeter volunteer actually do? Highlight the region by introducing visitors to spots that visitors might not see on their own. Greeters direct travelers to the lesser known sights, attractions, and little shops and restaurants which give our region its color and flavor. Orient visitors by answering questions and helping them feel more comfortable, welcome, and informed in the Greater Bangor Region. The Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau wants all of our visitors to discover everything that our region has to offer. The best way to do that is by putting our visitors in touch with the people who know and love this region the best – the people who live here. You don't have to be a living encyclopedia to volunteer. Help us to show our visitors the friendly Maine welcome that we are known for. As a greeter you'll have the unique opportunity to make a great first impression when a visitor arrives in Bangor.
